Having creative FUN with fiber! Your choice on the hand felted project you make: a felted Trivet or felted Glasses Case or a felted Sculpture. Unleash your creativity with shape, design and color using sheep wool and other embellishing sustainable fibers.

You do not need any experience to take this class, however, please read the “physical requirements disclaimer” in the prerequisites section below before signing up for this class.

Experience the feel of the natural fibers while you create a colorful and beautiful fabric item for you or your home.   The method we will be following is called “wet felting”.  We will overlap layers of wool, add soap and water, and then rub and roll the piece until it becomes fabric or “felted”.   You don’t have to have a lot of hand or arm strength for this class; however, you will use your hands to place layers of wool down and then rub, roll and shape it to completion. So please refer to the prerequisites below  for physical requirements. As an added benefit, you will leave this class with the knowledge of how to replicate this process at home.

Walk away with a finished felted creation that you can use or gift
Learn a craft that you can repeat at home with minimal investment
You will be participating in a sustainable art form
Enjoy tactile play with fiber

Please be advised that this is a labor intensive class and requires a significant amount of physical labor with the use of your hands and arms. If you have any physical limitations that would prevent you from heavy use of your hands or arms over a 4 hour period of time – this wet felting class will probably not be a good fit for you.

Tall Cactus Studio
Lucy Huckery is the fiber artist behind Tall Cactus Studio www.tallcactusstudio.com. She makes eco-printed and felted fiber art creations that are both beautiful and functional. Three years ago, she discovered eco printing (botanical contact printing) and began experimenting on paper using leaves, bark, flowers, and seeds she found in nature. When she tried bundling these same botanicals on fabric, a world of possibilities opened up, and she decided to tailor her craft to focus on fiber art. Today, Lucy transforms eco printed fabric and handmade felt into functional items such as trivets, coasters, placemats, purses, table runners, glasses cases, pin cushions and scarves.
