Mimi’s Art Labs are short 90 minute workshops where we explore one new technique and art application that you can add to your “Making” cache.

In this playful workshop, we will take beautiful collage papers and assemble them together with other ephemera to make small clusters to use to make notecards or larger art pieces.
Using Acrylic Paint Pens, Mimi will show you some easy & fast Mark Making tips to add “Top Designs” to any of your collage clusters to make them one-of-a-kind.
Conclude class with a mini project to try out your papers.

Students get an inexpensive fast workshop where they focus on one art technique and because the class is short, they loosen up and play.

Wear Art Clothes. Mimi provides all class materials, but if you want to bring any of your own personal collage papers, ephemera or ribbons, that will all help to make your finished art pieces more personal.

Growing up with a very creative mother and sisters meant that art and cooking projects were a constant in our home. When I declared, at 9 years old, that I wanted to learn to sew, my mom promptly sent me to the Singer sewing shop at the mall. One bungled tennis dress later, the foundation of my self-taught style and business was laid out.
The next layer would be added that same year, when I took art lessons at the Toledo Museum of Art where I learned my primary and secondary colors. The inklings of a business were planted! That lead to my whimsical style of painting, stitching, drawing & hand-cut wobbly designs.

As I go through my life, I appreciate more and more how to edit and make my life less complicated. I am getting back to basics and simplicity. I see objects in their simplest forms and my style is all about editing what I see down to recognizable images. I am simply striving for good design. In a world that can be so busy and overwhelming, I hope that my artworks are pleasing and joyful to look at.

I am inspired always by looking around me…the sidewalk cracks, the way old bricks lay out, the colors of tulips on a farm in the pacific northwest, the mountain scenery driving through the west, and any cows and horses that I see along the road on those trips.
