Our Signature Program Desert Awareness Committee (DAC) invites you to hone your storytelling skills in a fun, interactive way amidst the natural beauty of Harmony Hollow at Spur Cross.

Storytellers from the renowned South Mountain Storytelling Institute will teach you how to create engaging stories related to life in the desert.

Learn how to craft captivating stories that delight and educate the listener.

This experiential workshop includes:

  • 9:00 am-9:45 am: Sensory Hike to reconnect you with the desert and its inhabitants.
  • 9:45 am-10:00 am: Why storytelling matters and program
  • 10:00 am-11:20 am: Personal story development (from personal experience)
  • 11:20 am-11:50 am: Light lunch of desert foods provided by DAC
  • 11:50 am-1:15 pm: “Pourquoi” story development (why something is the way it is)
  • 1:15 pm-2:30 pm:  Story Concert – listening to one another’s stories (sharing your story is optional)
LOCATION: Harmony Hollow Preserve, this is an off-site event and NOT at The Holland Center
FORMAT: In-person workshop
INSTRUCTION METHOD: Hands-on
AGES: Adults 18+

Please note this workshop is at Harmony Hollow, not The Holland Center. Cancellation Policy: Cancellations 14 or more days prior to the first day of class will be refunded, minus a $10 processing fee. Cancellations less than 14 days are non-refundable.
