Explore the art of fused glass. Students in this class will complete two flowers. The first day will be designing, cutting and arranging the glass to form a flower. Once this is done the flowers will be put in a kiln to fuse, then slumped into a mold that will create the flower shape (a total of 48 hours in the kiln). The flower will then be drilled and assembled to give it a stem. Flowers will be ready to take home in approximately one week to enjoy in your home or garden.

All materials are provided by the instructor. Participants should wear closed toed shoes.

INSTRUCTOR BIO

Kathy Nelson spent most of her life on the West Coast. She enjoys working with students and has developed multiple classes to help others appreciate the world of glass. She especially like the durability of Egyptian class, and it amazes her that something so fragile could exist for millennia. Fused glass is her current focus, as the play of light remains a fascination.
