Join us for an engaging hands-on workshop that is perfect for both photographers and artists eager to improve the photographic images of their work. Using your own laptop and Adobe Photoshop, you will gain experience making basic photographic adjustments that can dramatically improve the quality of your images and creative endeavors.

Instruction will include:

  • Basic Photographic Adjustments: Learn how to enhance exposure, contrast, color balance, and sharpness to make your images pop.
  • Layer Masks: Understand the powerful technique of layer masking, which allows for non-destructive editing and precise control over image elements.
  • Combining Multiple Images: Explore how to blend different photographs seamlessly, creating stunning compositions that tell a story or highlight specific details.

PREREQUISITES: Must be familiar with how to upload files to your computer from a thumb drive and how to locate them to use in the workshop. Must have a recent version of Adobe Photoshop installed and functioning on your laptop.

WHAT TO BRING: Your own laptop and laptop charger with a recent version of Adobe Photoshop installed and functioning. There will be a 30 minute break for lunch so bring your own snacks/sack lunch, if desired. Your own images you would like to work on, time permitting, toward the end of the workshop.

INSTRUCTOR NAME: Tom Klare

Tom Klare has been a professional photographer, illustrator, designer, and educator for his entire career. His photography work has won many international awards with PX3 (Prix de la Photographie Paris, BIFA (Budapest International Foto Awards), IPA (International Photography Awards), and ND Awards (Neutral Density). Some of his clients have included Bank of America, National Geographic, The Nature Conservancy, and Arizona Highways. His work was also selected to be flown into space aboard a SpaceX Dragon capsule. He is a retired art professor emeritus, a frequent guest speaker at photographic organizations, and teaches various photographic workshops.
