 Distilled spirits have been around for thousands of years, evolving from very simple liquor made from fermented grain, to the complex and expansive oak-aged beverages enjoyed around the world today.  We will explore its evolution through time examining the differences in cultures and processes, focusing on Irish and Scottish blends and comparing to American varietals.  We will explain the proper spelling of Whiskey or Whisky.  We will also examine the complex American experience with this unique beverage, focusing on the late 19th and 20th century.
