The Sonoran Arts League & the Holland Center are bringing together eight accomplished artists to share their journeys, inspirations, and passions with our community. This is a fantastic opportunity for art enthusiasts to connect with local talented artists and learn more about their creative processes!

Joanie Wolter was born and raised in Southern California and lived there until she retired from teaching public school for 37 years.  She and her husband, Charlie, moved to Sedona in 2007 the day after she retired and lived there for 10 years before moving to North Scottsdale.  It was in the art-rich city of Sedona and the Sedona Art Center where she found the World of Art and she has never looked back.  After trying many mediums, she found that working with clay was something she loved.  Ceramics was her first love until she learned to sculpt with fiber clay and developed her whimsical style of sculpting and found her voice.

After feeling competent creating with fiber Clay, she started teaching classes at her studio and in cities throughout the southwest and California.  Although she no longer travels to teach, her North Scottsdale studio is usually buzzing with former students creating, and new students learning!

Joanie’s one-of-a-kind sculptures are whimsical and are intended to make you smile.  If you walk by one of her pieces and it makes you laugh, she feels like she’s done her job.

Her business is appropriately named Cuvee Art.  Cuvee is a wine term meaning blend and appropriate because her work and she, herself, are a blend of humor, creativity and imagination!!!

The Amazing Artist Series is the 2nd Monday of the month at 1pm. Reserve your seat today, only $10.  All proceeds benefit the Sonoran Arts League and Holland Community Center art programs.
