Learn how to clean and cut a gourd bowl or vase using hand & power tools, customize the piece with your choice dye color and decorative botanicals, and apply seal & finish. Instructor helps beginners learn how to use and be comfortable with the tools. Display flowers of the season inside this beautiful piece… or gift to a friend.

AGES: Adults 18+
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Novice, Intermediate, Expert
PREREQUISITES: None
MATERIALS PROVIDED BY INSTRUCTOR: All materials and shared tools. If you have your own gourd tools, it’s to your advantage to bring them for your use. Instructor provides gourd cutting supplies, but they will be used by multiple people.
WHAT TO BRING: Dress in work clothes or bring an apron. Bring a snack, lunch, and something to drink.
FEE: $85 – Includes all materials and tools needed to complete the piece in class. Please purchase tickets below.
INSTRUCTOR NAME: Darlene Saucedo
Darlene is an award-winning master gourd artist. She’s lived in the Southwestern U.S. for over 35 years, and weaves the wide range of desert materials from this region into her art. From gourds to desert clay, she transforms these materials into beautiful and even whimsical canvases and tabletop art pieces. She’s a member of the Sonoran Art League, AZGS/Arizona Gourd Society, AGS/American Gourd Society, West Brook Fine Arts, Arizona Art Alliance Gallery, and the Gourd Gypsies Patch.
