Paper Engineering Camp

June 17-21
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. each day

A complete STEAM hands-on workshop awaits at this week-long summer camp that combines science, math, engineering, and art to create fun paper pop-up books! Participants ages 10-15 will learn how book designers use STEAM techniques to create their concepts and translate them into realistic 3-D paper images for sophisticated paper pop-up creations.

This 5-day indoor camp is run by our seasoned & professional art instructor Larry Charles who will demonstrate the five basic paper engineering techniques, and how to “draw” with scissors to create animals, architecture, and geometric surprises for readers as they turn the pages. At least one project will be completed each day of the camp. All tools and paper supplies are included in the registration fee.

Instructor Bio: Larry Charles has been teaching art at The Holland Center for many years. His professional work is displayed at several touring museum exhibitions, and his commissioned work appears frequently in national magazines and books featuring the top designer homes in New York City. Larry was the worldwide creative director for the largest agency on Madison Avenue for 14 years, and has served as president of the Scottsdale Artists’ School. He frequently lectures and writes articles for international art magazines.
