Discover the beautiful art of pen and ink in this fun, creative two-day holiday workshop! Designed for beginners through intermediate artists, this class will introduce you to the techniques that make pen and ink such a unique and expressive art form.
Day 1: We’ll explore the fundamentals of pen and ink, including line work, hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, texture, shading, pattern, and creating light and shadow. You’ll practice a variety of techniques while learning how different marks can bring an illustration to life. We’ll work with a festive holiday theme to make the learning process fun and inspiring.
Day 2: You’ll put your new skills together to create a collection of hand-drawn pen and ink holiday cards. You’ll be guided step-by-step as you develop your designs and learn how to create artwork that translates beautifully onto a greeting card.
At the end of class, you’ll have your own handmade holiday cards (at least 4 – probably more!) to take home and share with family and friends—or keep for yourself!
No previous pen and ink experience is necessary. Beginners are warmly welcomed, and students with some experience will have plenty of opportunities to expand their techniques and creativity.
