Join us for The Great Desert Escape with Keith Warren Lloyd, who brings to life the true story of the mass escape from the Phoenix POW Camp during World War II. Hear how twenty-five German sailors tunneled out of the Papago Park Prisoner of War Camp and braved the harsh Sonoran Desert in a daring bid for freedom. The largest escape of prisoners of war in North America during World War II happened right here in Scottsdale. Join historian and author Keith Warren Lloyd as he explores the factors leading up to the escape, the escape itself, and the aftermath as part of The Holland Center Lifelong Learning Series.

About the Presenter: Keith Warren Lloyd

Keith Warren Lloyd is an author and historian, a retired firefighter, and a U.S. Navy veteran. Lloyd graduated from Arizona State University, where he studied history and political science. His other works include The Great Desert Escape, Avenging Pearl Harbor, Dark Nights Deadly Waters, and Above and Beyond. He resides in Flagstaff, Arizona.
