In this class, you will take a holiday card and recycle it into a beautiful keepsake. The holiday card will be used as the base to add journaling papers which can be used for notes, adding photos, or adding other memorabilia to the journal.

During the class, Lynn will instruct you on making a simple tassel which you can add to your recycled card. The process of making tassels can be applied to other projects you create outside of class.

You will learn how to bind the journal using a three-hole pamphlet stitch method, and also learn how to add binding stitches and add a tassel to the journal. The art of making journal pockets will be shared. Use of a bellyband to hold tags and other items which have meaning to you will be explained and added to your card.
Lynn will show you how to bind envelopes into a journal and use them as tuck spots with surprise contents.

This class is the perfect way to round out the holidays by recycling items accumulated during the course of the year. The class is about joy, play, and taking numerous independent items and turning them into something beautiful with meaning. This class will provide you the knowledge to create keepsake gifts from cards which can be passed down through the generations, kept as decorations, or added to over the years.

During this course you will learn how to make a journal out of a holiday card using the three-hold pamphlet stitch method with additional information from the instructor regarding how to create a tassel attachment.

You will learn how to use a variety of lace, ribbons, yarn, thread and/or left-over craft items to make a simple tassel which can be recreated and added to many things outside of class.

The information you learn in this course will enable you to reproduce another after class is over.

Lynn Blair
Lynn Blair & Associates, LLC/Art as Therapy
Professionally Lynn practiced as a registered nurse with a Doctorate Degree in the healthcare field. During her 35+ years in healthcare, she noticed how art helped patients and residents heal. And, how art helped patients and residents positively refocus their energy during difficult times. Therefore, she knew when she retired from the corporate world, she would be focusing on Art as Therapy. Lynn has been working with beads, yarn, fabric, paper and a variety of mediums for years, starting with stringing beads and buttons as a very young girl with her grandmother. During middle school and high school she sewed her own clothing. When living in California, for several years Lynn taught beading and jewelry-making classes at a local bead store. At one time, Lynn had a 60″ weaving loom and weaved her own curtains and material.
Lynn enjoys creating items which have a variety of textures, art that includes recycled items and found objects, and repurposing all possible elements in art.
She creates many different types of beautiful ephemera to utilize in her one-of-a-kind art junk journals which she sells in her ETSY Storefront: lynnmariblair
Her commercial studio, Art as Therapy, will be up and functioning in Scottsdale the summer of 2024 where her work can be viewed and purchased.
Lynn is a member of the Sonoran Arts League and Paperworks. Several pieces of commissioned work were generated by Lynn to include a memory bridal journal, a tiny art journal, and a personal grief journal after the passing of a loved one.
Lynn lives in North Scottsdale where she is inspired by the beautiful boulders, native foliage, sunsets, and the gifts of nature within her art.
