The Mustang is the only truly American horse yet it is actually a “feral” rather than “wild” animal, as they are descended from the those introduced to the Americas by the Spanish. An amazingly adaptable animal that within a few generations completely changed the culture of Plains and Western Native Americans. Some breeds were so successful they were targeted for destruction. We will look at the history of the American Mustang and their place in American history.
Jim Sherbert’s 30-year career spans a wide range of consumer and commercial manufacturing categories with both domestic and international responsibilities. He has a passion for history and the broad scope of events and people who make America unique among nations. At The Holland Center, Jim is a former board chair, serves as development leader of the Desert Foothills Leadership Academy, and leads the Americana Lecture Series.
