This 4-session class is designed as an introduction for beginners but can also be taken repeatedly as an enjoyable hour of beneficial exercise where students have reported improvement in balance, flexibility, and posture. Warm-up includes breathing and stretching prior to the Tai Chi movements.
Medical research has shown Tai Chi can have health benefits including stress reduction and improved cardiovascular fitness. Some doctors recommend Tai Chi to help patients prevent falls, lower blood pressure, or reduce the effects of arthritis.
Although Tai Chi originated as a defensive Martial Art form hundreds of years ago. As an exercise practice it involves slow, flowing movements without an opponent.

INSTRUCTOR NAME: Peggi Cornelius
Peggi Cornelius has been instructing in the Guang Ping Yang style of Tai Chi since 2013. She has taught beginning and intermediate classes at Paradise Valley Community College and through the Tempe Parks and Recreation Program. She especially enjoys introducing beginning Tai Chi students to the many benefits gained from the regular practice of slow and gentle whole-body movement.
